What’s Happening? February 2024

February is peak tourist season here in Puerto Rico … the days are warm, the nights are cool, and it’s freezing up in the Great White North. From carnivals to and marathons to food, drink and events, there are lots of things going on this time of year.

While there is almost always something interesting happening somewhere in Puerto Rico, there are a few special events each month that deserve a mention. Here are a few of those events for February 2024.

February Events

February 1 to 4: Fiestas Patronales de Manatí

Starting at 6pm, in the Public Plaza, the town festival with food, artisans, and music going on the whole weekend to make it a real party! There is a 5K run on 05 February starting at 7:30am. See their Facebook page for details.

February 2 to 4: Carnavál del Plata in Dorado

This fun carnival has a few parades (the big one is at 2:30pm on Sunday). There will be artisans, dancing, food, and of course, lots of live music. There are even sports matches (boxing) and other activities for kids. Most of the fun will be around the Public Plaza. See their Facebook page for the schedule of events and for more info.

Februray 2 to 4: Carnaval de Vejigantes de la Playa de Ponce

The Carnaval de Vejigantes de la Playa gets everyone psyched up for the Ponce Carnaval, is the last big blow-out before Lent. These 3 days/evenings will have lots of the colorful Vejigantes and will introduce you to the town “royalty”. Parades on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Plus of course live music and food! February Events

February 3: MojitoFest PR

A night of rumba, gastronomy and a lot of flavors! Over 40 restaurants and famous bartenders will be featured at the 10th edition of the Mojito Fest at the San Juan Convention Center. See their Facebook page for more info. Tickets at PRTicket.com

Februray 8 to 13: Ponce Carnival

The annual Carnaval Ponceño is the last big blow-out before Lent. There are events during the evenings, and then Sunday is the big parade. Visit their Events page on Facebook for more info

February 16 to 18: Carnavál Arroyano

This fun carnival has artisans, dancing, food, and, of course, lots of live music. Most of the fun will be around the Public Plaza. The Carnaval parade starts on Sunday at 2pm from the Arroyo Town Center. See this Facebook group for more info.

February Events

February 16 to 18: 42nd Fiesta del Acabe del Café in Maricao

The big town fesitval celebrating the end of coffee picking is celebrated in Maricao in the Public Plaza. Lots of music, events, food (and coffee!) and artisans and more fun for the whole family. See their FB page for more info.

February 17 to 18: Puerto Rico Racing Expo in San Juan

Race cars fanatics , this is your time! This is the 8th edition of The biggest racing exhibition in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. There will be 50+ Exhibitors and more than 200 cars on display.Held at the Centro de Convenciones de Puerto Rico. Tickets and more info on PRTicket.com.

Coffee Festival

Februray 23 to 25: Festival del Frio in Adjuntas

The 13th annual festival takes place on the grounds of the Parador Villas Sotomayor in beautiful Adjuntas. There will be rides for the kids, food, artisan,s and lots of fun for all. Visit their Facebook page for more info.

February 24: Whiskey Expo

The Puerto Rico Whisky Expo is the annual event dedicated entirely to whisky aficionados, focusing on tasting and education. They also have live music, a bistro area with local food from small businesses, artisan hand made cigar booths, and more. All tickets include access to tastings, a commemorative Glencairn-like nosing glass, and tote bag. The expo willm be held at the Antiguo Arsanal in Old San Juan. See the Facebook page for more info.
