Great place.* The whole family enjoyed it. The museum has lots of fun educational activities for kids of all ages. We can definitely spend another day there. The outdoor playground was very nice with several play sets for kids to play on.
*Having said that, we have to agree with Marcia’s comments about staff problems. In particular, the go-cart staff was awful. The rules are very clear: you must be 4’8” to drive your own cart; if under 4’8” you must have an adult drive the go-cart. Well, they don’t use an accurately measured bar for kids to stand next to in order to determine one’s height. Instead, they have a sticker on the wall with a cartoon character holding his hand out, presumably marking the 4’8” cutoff. Unfortunately the hand is diagonally positioned with several inches between the lowest and highest points one might interpret as the appropriate height. Enter the staff: since there is no objective measure by which to determine the correct height, the staff subjectively decides whether the child is tall enough. Also, the staff sometimes allows kids who don’t make their 4’8” cutoff drive, so long as they are with an adult (making the rules up apparently). Unfortunately, we had some kids in our group who were over 4’8” who were not allowed to drive. Upon my producing a tape measure and proving the kids were taller than 4’8” (3 kids between 4’8” and 4’11” were not allowed to drive alone), the staff became irate, but still did not allow the kids to drive alone – you would think a museum that teaches science to kids would know how to use a tape measure. Normally I wouldn’t be so bothered, but there is a friendly go-cart place about 25 minutes further away (Carabali) that doesn’t play those games. The Carolina Museum advertises on the internet, on numerous brochures, and at their museum that kids must be over 4’8” to drive their own cart – which is at best misleading. By my tape measure, kids had to be over 4’11” to drive alone. If anyone in your party is within a few inches over 4’8” who wants to drive, go to Carabali instead. Don’t subject yourself to the Carolina Museum’s false advertising and rude go-cart staff.

A really fun place to visit... and very educational for the children. We adults loved it, and had come for the pleasure of our little 20 month old girl. The staff could be a bit more pleasant tho, and not quite so "police" like - sometimes shoving in and not letting us work with the children. Overall tho, it was a fun experience. The whole area around the building is marked quite festive.

The sign on eastbound (from San Juan) Route 26 is easy to see. The sign on westbound Route 26 is the one we commented that we couldn't see until we had passed it. 3/28/12- Happy to see a new big sign on RT 26 west for the museum!

I absolutely loved the museum. If you missed the sign you are clearly blind. It is perfect and impossible to miss. I would however have more dress up clothes and different sizes so all the children can live out the experience including handicap children. I loved the lego area but wished it was bigger. All in all I loved the experience. I hope they keep adding to it. Will buy a yearly pass for the family. Not much to do hear in Puerto Rico so we have to take advantage of what little they have.
