From local talent to world-renowned superstars, we have it all — concerts, performing arts, family entertainment. The lively entertainment scene on the island generally kicks into high-gear for the Christmas season.

Here is a small sampling of upcoming events that caught our attention …

Body Worlds

Though similar to the Bodies Exhibition that was staged at the same venue back in 2008/2009, this is a completely different exhibition. This show is by Gunther von Hagens, who claims to have invented the Plastination process used to preserve the human specimens that are on display.

Aqua: Beyond a Circus

Aqua is a themed show fusing the talented performers of a modern circus with water, a common element in all of the acts.

Shakira In Concert

When: October 14 & 15, 2011
Where: Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in Hato Rey

Cirque du Soleil: Dralion

Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.
When: October 19 through 23, 2011

Evita

The musical that tells the story of Eva Peron, the first lady of Argentina, that won 7 Tony Awards. Presented for the first time in Puerto Rico, by a cast of entirely local performers.
When: October 27 through November 5, 2011

Marc Anthony In Concert

When: November 5, 2011

La Fería: The Park

This annual carnival, featuring rides and entertainment, runs for the better part of 2 months, from before Thanksgiving to around Three Kings’ Day.
When: November 17, 2011 through January 9, 2012.
Where: In the parking lot of Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan
Tickets: Tickets are available "at the door"

Yanni In Concert at El Morro

Yanni often performs concerts at important historical or cultural sites. This concert will be on the grounds of El Morro.
When: December 16 & 17, 2011
Where: Castillo San Felipe del Morro in Old San Juan
