Weekend Fun – Discovery Bay Paddle Boats

If you’re looking for a laid-back outdoor activity in Puerto Rico that’s fun, affordable, and family-friendly, the fanciful designed pedal boats at Discovery Bay Paddle Boat Park are a great option. The activity takes place just across the street from the Casa de Arbol/Tree House at Parque Colón, located waterfront, on the Aguadilla/Aguada border. Here, a river slowly flows into the ocean, creating a calm, lake-like area that’s perfect for pedal-boating. The water is peaceful, making it an ideal spot to enjoy nature with someone for a short while.

Discovery Bay Paddle Boat Park offers colorful pedal boats in the shape of swans and flamingos. The boats are stable, easy to use, and this safe activity is suitable for couples or families. No experience is required — life jackets and instructions are provided, and staff clearly marks where you can go. Once you are ready, you’re free to pedal as much or as little as you like, whether you’re looking for a light workout or just want to float and enjoy the scenery.

The area is full of wildlife, including iguanas, ducks, shorebirds, and even turtles, which makes the experience especially fun for kids and nature lovers.

This is an open-air activity, so be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and water. Pedal-boating can be a bit of a leg workout, especially if your pedaling partner is a child, but it’s a pleasant and memorable 30-minute experience. Picnic tables and benches are available nearby, perfect for relaxing before or after your ride or for anyone in your group who prefers to stay on land. There are always food trucks in the area – and of course the Tree House, for everyone to enjoy before or after their boating trip.
