Good Eats & Music at the SoFo Culinary Festival

Twice a year the restaurant community in Old San Juan pulls together for their SoFo Culinary Festival. These festivals, typically in June and October, feature lots of great food & drinks, live music, outdoor dining and artisans selling their wares. This fall the festival is being held from October 29 – November 2, 2008.

What is the Taxi Zone for My Hotel?

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company has defined five tourism zones that encompass the areas around the SJU airport, Isla Verde, Condado, Miramar, Old San Juan, and the cruise ship piers. Taxi fares within and between these tourism zones are fixed and posted. If you’re traveling to or from a hotel, it’s helpful to know the taxi zone for your hotel.

Manos por Patas: How You Can Help Dogs In Need

Manos por Patas (Hands for Paws) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the suffering of stray dogs in Puerto Rico. These strays (called satos by the locals) are in need of medical attention, food, water, and, more importantly, a loving home.

Manos por Patas is looking for people to escort dogs on plane rides to the States. You can also adopt one of the strays outright, or you can man a donation to help provide medical care.
