The deep water around Puerto Rico is full of big-game fish, like mahi-mahi , wahoo, tuna, white marlin, and blue marlin. If you want to try your luck and see if you can reel in a big one, take a deep sea fishing charter.

If you are looking for a nice light sand beach, that is close to San Juan, then you'll want to check out Balneario Carolina.

Segway Tours of Puerto Rico offers 2-hour tours of Old San Juan. Riding a Segway is fun, easy and a unique way to see the city and forts.

There are many trails in the El Yunque National Forest, but one great trail that is often overlooked is the Bano de Oro trail. Bano de Oro is one of my favorite trails because it goes along the river through a very lush part of the rain forest, there are sounds of the river and forest all around you

Plaza Las Americas is the largest mall in the Caribbean. People come from other Caribbean islands just to shop here! The mall is located in the Hato Rey district of San Juan. There are about 300 stores, including the anchor stores of JC Penney, and Macy's.

In addition to drinks, rum plays into many Caribbean recipes - both main dishes and desserts. One of our all time favorite desserts is Rum Cake. If you like rum, there's nothing quite like your first taste of rum cake. Once you taste it, you have to buy a couple boxes to take home for your friends (and for yourself!). But eventually, you eat it all ... and then what are going to do? You're going through Rum Cake withdrawal!

The Tropical Agricultural Research Station (TARS) in Mayaguez is the tropical research center of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Crops under study there include dry bean, sorghum, banana, plantain, cacao, papaya, and tropical exotic fruits such as rambutan, carambola, mamey sapote, lychee, longan, sapodilla and mangosteen.

Depending on where you want to travel by taxi you'll pay either a fixed rate or a metered rate.

At Cueva del Indio, you will be transported back in time. The Taino Indians held tribal meetings in this area and made numerous carvings in the walls of these natural limestone caves. Also beautiful stone arches and views. Photographers dream!

If you enjoy animals and are in the Mayaguez area, you might consider spending a few hours at the Mayaguez Zoo. Formally, this little zoo is called the Parque Nacional Zoologico de Puerto Rico Dr. Juan A. Rivero

On a clear day, the view from the top of El Yunque is breathtaking. Looking out over the lush green tree tops, past the towns, you see the blue water of the northern coastline and the easternmost tip of Puerto Rico. You know you are pretty high when the clouds come rolling up the sides of the mountain toward you. Take El Yunque Trail to the top!

To get around the San Juan metro area, your can take a taxi.

Take a refreshing dip in clear rain forest water. Swim under a waterfall. It sounds like a dream. But it is actually a very popular and fun thing to do during a trip to El Yunque National Forest. The waterfall is called La Mina Falls, and it can be accessed by La Mina trail.

If you have always dreamed about swimming in a waterfall, having the water cascade onto your back, massaging you, then you are in luck. Many people have that experience at La Mina Falls in the El Yunque National Forest. Big Tree Trail in El Yunque gets you there.

There is something about Old San Juan at night that is really magical. Night Tales in Old San Juan is one of the tours available to educate you a little about Old San Juan.

La Cruceta del Vigia or El Vigia Cross is a 100-foot tall cross-shaped observation tower, located on top of Vigia Hill in Ponce. It is directly behind the Serralles Castle museum. Come chek out the view!

Sadly, the Arecibo Observatory was the home of one of the world's largest radio telescope, which was used to study the ionosphere and nearby planets as they pass overhead. Since it's opening in 1963, this radio telescope has been in continuous operation and has made many significant scientific discoveries. But in 2020, the telesope collapsed and eventually, the whole favilty has closed.

If you are in Ponce and like antiques, gardens, hand-crafted furniture and stunning views, then a visit to the Serralles Castle (Castillo Serralles) should probably get on your "must do" list. Located on the hill above the City of Ponce, Serralles Castle was the "summer home" of the Serralles family.

In the States, the traditional Holiday drink is Eggnog. In Puerto Rico, it is Coquito. This super sweet, alcoholic concoction is a crowd favorite at any holiday gathering. Here is our favorite recipe for Coquito.

Rio Camuy Caves Park (or, in Spanish, Parque de las Cavernas del Rio Camuy), offers tours of the cave system. This large cavern has guided tours through it, where you can see beautiful cave formations, a river and bats!
